NEW NORTH PHOTOGRAPHY PRIZE 2010 ...AND THE WINNERS ARE...

Over 150 entries from across Australia were received in this year's New North Photography Prize 2010.
The prize is hosted by the eponymous gallery, New North Editions, in Fairfield.
A prize pool of $10,000 is up for grabs in four different categories - Open, Student, Portrait, and People's Choice Award.
Three esteemed judges - Dr Shaune Laikin, Director, Monash Gallery of Art; Jeff Moorfoot, photographer and Festival Director, Ballarat International Photo Biennale; Eugene Barilo von Reisberg, Director, BvR Arts Management - carefully examined the diverse entries.
The Directors of the New North Photography Prize 2010 were delighted to announce the winners in three categories - Open, Student, and Portrait - on Thursday, 11 November 2010.

Highly Commended Awards in the Open Prize were also given to Kirsten Bowers for The Guardian and Lisa Ziino for her suite of works East 34th and 5th.

Highly Commended Awards in the Student Prize were also given to Andrej Kocis for Untitled #3 and Jessie Di Blasi for 49 Days.

Highly Commended Awards in the Portrait Prize were also given to Josephine Harkin for her portrait, Ben, and to Sean O'Carroll, for his portrait, Boy.
The winner of the People's Choice Award will be announced at the closing party on Saturday, 27th November, from 2pm.
